Then Until Forever

I am completely, shamelessly biased here because I actually narrated the audiobook for this, but walking in Avery’s shoes (or rather, speaking her words aloud) was an absolute blast from the very first chapter. I’ve loved this author's work from chapter one, so going into Then Until Forever (Book 1), my expectations were already sky-high. Not only did it deliver, but getting to bring the story to life made me appreciate the writing on a whole different level.

What stood out to me immediately was the sheer voice of the main character. Avery’s sarcasm, her style, and the rapid-fire banter are brilliantly sharp. It’s the kind of witty, effortless back-and-forth that makes you want to keep listening or reading just to see what snappy comeback is coming next. You can tell the author put a lot of care into making her feel like a real, breathing person rather than just a trope vehicle.

As a romance novel, it hits that sweet spot of feeling genuinely grounded. A lot of the genre leans heavily into melodrama or insta-love that feels completely unmoored from reality, but this one kept pulling me in with how human the interactions felt. The internal monologues are messy, relatable, and deeply authentic to how we actually process our own insecurities and overthinking.

That realism extends beyond just the central romance, too. The navigation of family dynamics and friend groups struck a chord. It’s complicated, messy, comforting, and frustrating all at once, just like real life. Watching how these relationships shift and support one another added a layer of emotional weight that elevates the whole story past a standard contemporary romance.
